Beautiful new book showcases Yellowstone
A young Montana photographer presents a fresh vision of Yellowstone National Park in a new coffee-table book entitled “Yellowstone: A Land of Wild and Wonder.”
Christopher Cauble, 32, of Livingston, started photographing Yellowstone soon after he graduated from the University of Montana.
“I’ve loved Yellowstone ever since my family took me there as a kid,” Cauble said. “I always knew I wanted to photograph it, and I’ve spent many days and nights there, looking, listening, and waiting for the right light at the right moment.”
Cauble’s images are like the park itself: powerful, nuanced, graceful, stark. Old Faithful Geyser erupts at night beneath the sparkling ribbon of the Milky Way; elk weave in and out of a morning fog; striking patterns of color emerge from thermal areas.
Some of Cauble’s landscape photos show magnificent grandeur; others are quietly atmospheric. His wildlife photos demonstrate knowledge and respect, transcending portraits to show a connection to the animal viewed.

“Yellowstone: A Land of Wild and Wonder” is a 120-page hardcover gift book from Riverbend Publishing of Helena. It sells for $30.
