My Wild Garden Zoo
by Therese Hutchinson
Delightful paintings and poetry create a very special book for all children in the Rocky Mountains, and everywhere else! This fun book can be used as an early education tool for identifying western wildlife. What differences can you see between the mountain goat and the bighorn sheep? What about the mule deer’s ears, or the white-tailed deer’s tail? How are their antlers different? What about the elk and moose antlers? Therese Hutchinson’s characterizations of wild birds and animals munching on delicious fruits and vegetables in a small boy’s garden will captivate young animal lovers and stir up interest in wildlife. This book is an eye-pleasing debut from a talented Montana artist.
For ages 3-8
Local artist creates colorful children’s book
Twin Bridges artist Therese Hutchinson has fulfilled a life-long dream with the release of her first children’s book, “My Wild Garden Zoo.”
Published by Riverbend Publishing of Helena, the large format hardcover book features Hutchinson’s delightful paintings and poetry about wild animals visiting a little boy’s family garden.
“I’ve been working on the paintings and the poem for years,” Hutchinson said. “My family finally said I should go ahead and try to get it published.”
The vivid paintings of elk, moose, and other Rocky Mountain wildlife are physically accurate and visually engaging, so this fun book can be used as an early education tool for identifying western wildlife.
Hutchinson is a wife, mother of four, and grandmother of eight. She and her husband own and operate the only grocery store in Twin Bridges. A life-long artist and former graphic designer, this is her first book.
“My Wild Garden Zoo” is available at bookstores or from riverbendpublishing.com. It sells for $16.95.
About the Author
Therese Hutchinson is a wife, mother of four, and “Grammy” of eight grandchildren. Originally from the Yakima Valley in Washington, Hutchinson has lived in western Montana for more than twenty years. She and her husband own and operate the only grocery store in Twin Bridges, a small town in the beautiful Ruby Valley.
Hutchinson considers herself fortunate to live in such a special place where one can drive up the valley and through the mountains and see (with a little help from binoculars) elk, moose, deer, antelope, buffalo and a host of other wild animals and birds.
A life-long artist and former graphic designer, this is her first book.
